ViaQuatro is a concessionaire belonging to the CCR Group responsible for operating and maintaining the Yellow Line 4 of the São Paulo Subway, which is the first Public-Private Partnership contract signed in the Nation. Line 4 should carry around one million passengers per day, when it becomes fully operational, in 2013.

During the 30-year contract, ViaQuatro should spend over US$ 2 billion for equipment and operating costs. The first investments were made in 2007, purchasing equipment and systems, including trains.

The Line 4 trains has the most modern subway equipment, offering passengers greater comfort, with air conditioning, accordion sections between cars, allowing better accommodation and low noise levels. The line has glass dividers separating the platform from the tracks.

The cars are equipped with driverless technology, meaning  the trains will operate without a conductor, via a computerized system. The automatic operation is safer: the speed is always kept within the limits allowed and are regulated according to need, greatly facilitating train operations.

Line 4 represents the expansion of São Paulo’s subway system toward the south of the city, running along the important Consolação-Rebouças-Francisco Morato corridor. It is interconnected with the other subway lines, as well as the CPTM commuter train network, thus improving the quality of the metropolitan area’s public transportation system.
