The Castello-Raposo System, administrated by ViaOeste, consists of the Castello Branco, Senador José Ermírio de Moraes, Raposo Tavares, and Dr. Celso Charuri highways. The latter was inaugurated in June 2003 and is the connector between the Senador José Ermírio de Moraes and Raposo Tavares highways.

With an average traffic flow of 600,000 trips per day, the 162 kilometers of highway administrated by the concessionaire link the capital to the western part of the State, benefiting over 13.5 million inhabitants of 15 municipalities.

ViaOeste has operated the Castello-Raposo System since 1998, when it won the public bid promoted by the State of São Paulo for operating and maintaining these highway sections. After seven years in operation, in 2005, the concessionaire was acquired by CCR (Companhia de Concessões Rodoviárias), the biggest highway administrator in Brazil.

In the CCR Group, ViaOeste made a series of changes in its administration, adopting a modern service system on the highways – SOS User – and developing social responsibility projects, which are the trademark of all of the Group’s highway concessionaires.

Since the beginning of the concession, ViaOeste has invested around R$ 1.5 billion in the Castello-Raposo System. The funds were destined, primarily, for such works as constructing 20 kilometers of service roads on the Castello Branco Highway. These lanes reduced travel time by 85% between the Alphaville region and São Paulo. Other large works performed by the concessionaire were widening over 30 kilometers of the Raposo Tavares and building the Dr. Celso Charuri highway, which is an important road around the city of Sorocaba and relieves local traffic.
